Côte d’Ivoire Toll Roads Complete Guide
System: Fixed fee per passage at a toll post, set by vehicle class (NOT a distance-based rate). The class depends on vehicle height and number of axles
Operator: Fonds d’Entretien Routier (FER) operates the national network posts, including the Autoroute du Nord and the Route de l’Est. SOCOPRIM operates the Henri Konan Bédié (HKB) bridge
Currency: West African CFA franc (XOF, FCFA)
Coverage: Autoroute du Nord (Abidjan, Yamoussoukro, Bouaké), Route de l’Est, Abidjan-Grand-Bassam, HKB (3rd) bridge, the 4th Abidjan bridge, and regional posts such as Katiola, Ebouassué, Eticoon-Tollakro and Lakota
Technology: Toll booths with cash payment. FER also offers subscription and balance consultation services. No vignette
Do I Need Côte d’Ivoire Tolls? 2026 Update
Côte d’Ivoire does not have a vignette. You pay at each toll post on the roads that have one. Most of the network is toll-free. Tolls apply on the Autoroute du Nord, the Route de l’Est, the Abidjan-Grand-Bassam motorway, the Abidjan bridges and a growing list of regional posts.
Key Reality: The toll depends on the height and the number of axles of your vehicle, not on the distance you drive. If you change the height or size of your vehicle, it can move to a higher class.
2026 Update: FER publishes an updated 2026 tariff grid on its website. The ministry cut the rates at the Attinguié and Singrobo posts on 10 February 2025, and four new regional posts opened that month. The ministry announced new posts for 2026 on the Abidjan-Grand-Lahou, Fresco, Sassandra, San Pedro and Daloa-Man axes, and on the Autoroute du Nord.

Planning Your Journey
Cost Considerations:
- A class 1 car pays 1,000 FCFA at each of the Attinguié and Singrobo posts on the Autoroute du Nord
- A heavy vehicle with 3 axles or more (class 4) pays 5,000 FCFA at each of these 2 posts
- Regional posts cost less: 500 FCFA for class 1 and 3,500 FCFA for class 4
- Check the height and the axle count of your vehicle before you drive. They decide your class
Toll-Free Alternatives:
- Routes without a toll post are free. Check your route before you leave
- Traffic can be heavy around the Abidjan bridges. Plan extra time at peak hours
